UYA sports a fine arsenal of destructive implements, and each one can be leveled-up four times.
My favorite part of the R&C series is the assortment of ridiculous weapons, guns and otherwise, that are available to play with. As before, you jet between planets to hit things with a huge wrench and shoot the junk out of legions of cartoonish foes. There are some intense moments, and the game is just generally fun. Granted, the scope may seem just a tiny bit smaller, and it's definitely easier, but Insomniac could have easily justified releasing UYA's single-player game as a standalone product. Thanks to the wise addition of a strafe feature, Going Commando saw R&C evolve into something of a hardcore action / shooting game, and Up Your Arsenal follows faithfully in its action-packed predecessor's pawprints. Super Solo Given the huge addition of the online features, you might be expecting a rather abbreviated single-player experience. Combining a solid single-player adventure and all-new online competition modes, Up Your Arsenal is clearly Insomniac's most impressive outing yet. Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando was an excellent sequel that made definite improvements over its somewhat drowsy predecessor, and now, likewise, Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal makes marked improvements over that second game. Insomniac returned to this tried-and-tested strategy for the PS2's Ratchet & Clank series, but this time the improvements proved to be more than incremental. Back on PS one, each of its Spyro games was simply a refinement of the previous one, which resulted in quick development times but sometimes samey end results. A sequel, Ratchet: Deadlocked, was released in 2005.Insomniac is a studio that understands the value of building on past accomplishments, perhaps to a fault. It has been since been acclaimed as one of the best platform video games of all time. It was received praise for its visuals, combat and weaponry, audio and multiplayer modes, though it also received minor criticism for not being significantly different from its predecessors. Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal was released to universal acclaim upon its release, and was considered one of the best games of 2004 and an improvement over its predecessors it is the highest-rated game in the series according to MetaCritic. Key aspects of the development were to create a richer and different experience that would push the Ratchet & Clank series forward, and the team aimed to create a game that would appeal to several kinds of players. It is also the first game in the series to offer a multiplayer mode, supporting up to eight players.ĭuring development, Insomniac Games focused to make Up Your Arsenal their most ambitious title yet. In contrast to its predecessors, Up Your Arsenal includes more combat-focused game segments and offers a revamped control scheme. Several mini-games such as racing exist outside the main story. Ratchet has access to a large array of futuristic and exotic weapons and gadget he can use to combat enemies or complete puzzles with. The game is presented from a third-person perspective, in which players primarily control Ratchet as he and Clank travel across planets. It is the first game to introduce the villain, who serves as major antagonist in later entries. Nefarious, who seeks to destroy all organic life in the galaxy. The game follows protagonists Ratchet and Clank as they fight the robotic scientist Dr. Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal takes place in the "Solana" galaxy inhabited by various humanoid, anthropomorphic and beastly alien species. It is the third main installment in the Ratchet & Clank series and the sequel to 2003's Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. It was released on the PlayStation Vita in 2014, remastered by Mass Media Inc. The game was re-released for the PlayStation 3 as part of the Ratchet & Clank Collection in 2013, developed by Idol Minds. Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal is a 2004 platform video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 2.
